Presscon Hornit expansion system
The Presscon Hornit is a nitrogen expansion system for horizontal storage tanks. The system regulates the air pressure prevailing in these tanks and, for example, the associated heating system. The Hornit system creates a nitrogen blanket in horizontal storage tanks and regulates the pressure of this nitrogen blanket within a range of 800 mbar to 2000 mbar (higher pressure possible on request).
How does the Presscon Hornit expansion system work?
The system consists of a nitrogen generator with a compressed air compressor, a set of pressure sensors that measure the water level and pressure at the top of a buffer tank, a vacuum overpressure protector for the buffer tank and a control module that controls the nitrogen generator.
The Hornit units are intentionally built open, without a cabinet for the interior. This choice allows easy access for maintenance and also ensures that investment costs are reduced for the end user.
Although Presscon’s standard expansion systems range in production capacity from 1 m3 to 18 m3 of 99% nitrogen gas per hour, we can also design and build custom nitrogen plants for a variety of industrial applications, with capacities up to 1,000 m3 of nitrogen gas per hour (higher pressures possible per request).
Equal Level Control System
It is possible to move heat between different interconnected storage tanks. This can be done using the Equal Level Control System. The Hornit Expansion System can be linked to other stand-alone storage tanks using the ELC System. For more information on this, see Presscon ELC System.

Presscon Hornit Premium
The standard solution for heating systems with one horizontal expansion tank features a Presscontrol (PCB). This controller is capable of identifying 80 different alarms on the Press display. The HORNIT Premium features an Optimal-Control touchscreen display.
