Canadian entrepreneur Gabe Schieven driven to expand Presscon's presence in North America
Presscon and Schieven are working together to establish a subsidiary in Canada in the Okanagan region. This Presscon branch serves as a springboard for various projects in North America. Focus is on supplying products to industries such as horticulture, breweries, wineries and fire prevention.
Expansion of activities
“Our plan includes setting up a warehouse and office in the Okanagan region. We will handle our own sales as well as those of Presscon NL, making the process smoother for our customers. We will assemble the equipment here in Canada and provide service and maintenance from the same location. We aim to provide the same customer experience in North America as we do in Europe,” Schieven said.
Immediately sold
Gabe Schieven first encountered Presscon’s products in early 2023 and was immediately sold. “I am a Canadian entrepreneur with an academic background. At the University of British Columbia, I studied mechanical engineering and chemistry. In my professional career, I have explored several areas. That is from research and development in physics, especially the intriguing world of cold plasma, to chemistry with a focus on pharmaceuticals. This is where I first heard of Presscon and was introduced to their products.”
Working visit of 3 months
In the fall of 2023, I spent three rewarding months at Presscon in the Netherlands. I was very curious to see if I could help Presscon expand their presence in North America. When I was introduced to Presscon’s innovative products in early 2023, I was immediately sold. I saw the potential of these systems for companies in Canada and the U.S., so I embarked on this working visit.”
Technically trained
Schieven is an engineer by profession and not a commercial type. “Let me be clear, I don’t see myself as a typical salesperson. My real goal is to contribute to Presscon’s growth in North America. Whether it’s offering more cost-effective options, providing maintenance on installed systems or promoting environmentally friendly solutions, my goal is to support our potential customers in achieving their goals.”
