How does nitrogen work in automatic storage?
In automated storage rooms, nitrogen is used to structurally reduce oxygen levels to a level where combustion is no longer possible. Sensors continuously measure the oxygen percentage in the room. As soon as this rises, for example by opening doors or air movement, extra nitrogen is automatically added.
The nitrogen is produced on site with a nitrogen generator. In this process, compressed air forms the basis. Using HP-PSA technology, oxygen is separated from the compressed air via a Carbon Molecular Sieve, leaving nitrogen. This nitrogen is piped directly to the storage facility or temporarily stored in a pressure vessel.
This method provides a controlled and stable environment with reduced oxygen levels. This makes the solution particularly suitable for automated warehouses, high-rise warehouses and other compact storage environments where traditional extinguishing methods are less effective.
